About Me

Introduction

Hi, my name is Angelica Simone I am a self taught visual artist born in Queens, Ny. I moved to Toronto, Ontario at a young age where I continued to develop my enthusiasm for art. As a child I would doodle and often recreate my favourite cartoons and illustrate fashion sketches. My journey on creating art started with drawing with pen, copic markers then using Prisma colour pencils to broaden my skills when it comes to the use of shading and blending colours. My preferred means to create is acrylic on canvas as I feel it allows me to tap into my creative nature and express myself. 2016 is when I chose to publicly display my passion for art and creation with my paintings.

What is your work about?

My pieces depict culture as I see it; it is also deriving from the music I listen to, cartoons I grew up on and the environment around me. They influence how my muse are depicted. My focus on black culture comes from the lack there of usually leaving a feel of nostalgia towards the end. I love adding bold colours it gives my art vibrancy, allowing my work to stand out in any space. I love the way my my art connects with others, allowing personalized interpretations to what is seen and felt. I would love to share that with the world. every room they’re placed in and this remains true at every size of canvas whether big, nor small.
